Whether it is depression, relationship issues, anxiety, addictions, anger management issues, etc, the theme that seems to become most pronounced in individuals is their low opinion of themselves.  Sometimes I will ask a client, “on a scale of one to ten, ten being the most, how much do you love yourself?”  The question alone can leave some of them confused.  Some do not know how to answer that question, some quickly say that they do not love themself, and answers like this are strong indicators of how self-love, or lack thereof, sets the tone of your life.  Then becomes the goal of building on this self-loving as a basis while also addressing the specified issue.  Perhaps you can ask yourself the question and see what answer you receive.
